And I'm Not At All Sorry

You know how you hear jokes about everybody fighting or making a scene at family events? Yeah yesterday it was me. Fiona was being fussy and every singe person in the room was yelling advise on how I should be handling it. That I could ignore but it soon progressed to telling me everything I was doing wrong and culminated in my uncle thinking he was funny (he has a knack for stepping way over lines) saying, "That's it you failed as a mom". My response, "You know what, BITE ME!" Everyone went silent and I turned to face the rest of the room and said, "You can all shut the hell up. None of you has any right to criticize my parenting skills." The rest of the evening they kept their opinions to themselves.

Yay!

Sometimes, people just need a good smack upside the head.

My guess is you won't need to remind anyone ever again that you can handle yourself.

As a gal who is ABOUT to be in your shoes I am glad you told them off. My sister in law Melissa just got a BIG dose of this from out Aunt Sandy on her side. She actually sent here an email saying "melissa your a great mom but here are some tips! One of them telling her she needs to cover up her child more and that she needs to heat up the formula which IS NOT EVEN TRUE!! GGRRR!! The first person that says any criticism to me is going to get their ass handed to them
Advice is ONE thing when you ask for it criticism is a WHOLE nother realm..
A**holes.. I would have stood up for you had I been there. That really makes me MAD.

Lol. I'm a big believer in drawing the lines & letting family know what I will not put up with. Strangely I have a harder time with strangers although they are easier to ignore.

BTW Amy I'm sure you're going to be a great Mom.
