Still Needs a Binky

Fiona: (From back seat)::gag::

Me: Don't put your fingers so far back in your mouth silly.

Fiona: ::gag::

Me: If you keep doing that you'll make yourself throw up

Fiona: ::GAG!!!!::

Me: Awwww Maaaaaan!

My favorite part was how the car smelled like barf the whole way home when I already had a queasy stomach. I also enjoyed knowing my hands were NOT clean and there was nothing I could do about it.

Being a Mom is great!

See, it's all in the way you word it.

If you keep doing that you'll make yourself throw up does not say "Stop doing that".
It says, "Keep doing that until you throw up."

A momfriend of mine once told her flyswatter-waving daughter, "The next time you hit me with that, I'm taking it away."
Which did not say, "Stop hitting me."
No, it said, "You have one more chance to hit me before I take the flyswatter away."
So...
The daughter wound up real good and made sure that last swat was a super hard one.

Oh sure, we laugh about it now...

You have a very excellent point Roses. Kids are very literal.

This reminds me of a story. I noticed that the sink in my main bathroom wasn't draining very well. This is the bathroom my 3 teen daughters use and the main washtub for our guinea pigs.

I've become quite adept at plumbing and such over the years so I knew I just had to take the pipe apart, clean it out and put it back together. I ended up finding the most disgusting mass of gunk and hair ever. 6 inches long and almost solid. So I'm cleaning this out almost squeemishly and one of my kids comes up and goes "wow! doesn't anything gross moms out?"

Honestly, that one almost did.

It's true. Honestly I didn't think she understood what I was saying & thought she'd stop because she was making her own eyes watter.

I mean come on. If your doing something to yourself that makes you miserable you stop right?

Shows what I know.

You'd think.
Yet, I still go to work every day...

Well that's true but as far as I know no one was paying her to gag herself.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I'm going to spend all day telling people, "sorry we can't do that till Tuesday" ::sigh::
