A fine head of hair adds beauty to a good face, and terror to an ugly one.-Lycurgus
Do you think hair stylists look forward to the part of the appointment where they get to blow dry your hair 'cause then they don't have to make conversation any more?

All things are difficult before they are easy.-Thomas Fuller
Okay...
Weird question but how many comments can you all see on yesterdays post?
I ask because what I published, what shows if I go to the comments history, and what actually show if I look at the blog are all different.
Anyhow unless you are spam I tried to publish your comment. And it appears everyone besides me can see all of them so I guess that's not an issue.
Oh FYI after all my complaining I got a call yesterday afternoon. So as of Monday I return to the ranks of the employed.

A good film is when the price of the dinner, the theatre admission and the babysitter were worth it.-Alfred Hitchcock
Alright I've gotten some very odd recommendations from Amazon.com over the years. My two favorites are "You might like this CD of Danish Christmas chants because you said you own Appetite for Destruction" and "You might like this latex naughty nurse outfit because you said you own a blue Pyrex baking dish."
Now Netflix has joined the things that make you go hmmm brigade "You watched the Backyardigans so here are some witty British movies you might like."

Fatigue is the best pillow.-Benjamin Franklin
We all know that yawns are contagious. If you see someone yawn you too will be yawning shortly. But it doesn't seem to work if you just hear it, on the phone for example. I wonder why that is?

With Great Power There Must Also Come Great Responsibility.-Uncle Ben-Spiderman*
Who do you think has to clean up all the webs Spiderman leaves hanging off the buildings of New York?
*Before anyone feels the urge to correct me, this is the original quote from the comic not the abbreviated version that was in the movie.

Ideas are like pizza dough, made to be tossed around.-Anna Quindlen
You know that little plastic thing they put in the middle of the pizza to keep the cheese from sticking to the box lid?
1. What the heck is that thing called? There must be a technical term.
2. Whoever invented it is probably crazy rich.
3. When I was a little girl I used to save those thingies every time we had pizza and use them as end tables for my Barbies.

A lot of movies are about life, mine are like a slice of cake.-Alfred Hirchcock
Ya know action movies, and cop shows, and other exciting type visual entertainments with explosions? Ya know that part where the hero is running from the explosion and at the last second he leaps for safety and there's a dramatic shot of his body flying? 1. How do they know when to jump? 2. Why jump at all? Is there a moment when instinctively you think, "Yeah I can fly through the air faster than I can run."

A man speaks only when driven to speech by something outside himself - like, for instance, he can't find any clean socks.-Jean Kerr
I needed to buy socks. You know the plain ol' white kind for wearing with tennis shoes. Due to lack of selection I was forced to buy the kind that comes seven pairs in a bag. When I got home and was going to put them away I noticed the bag has a zip lock so you can reseal it.

Am I supposed to try to keep them fresh?

English Law prohibits a man from marrying his mother-in-law. This is our idea of useless legislation. ~Author Unknown
Why do we use the term "in law"? Ya know Mother in law, Sister in law etc.
For example I'm fairly sure "the law" does not recognise me as an additional daughter of Dave's parents.
And if say I were to die that would not (as far as I know) make Dave my parents next of kin. That would probably be Fiona.
I like Dave's family and my family likes Dave so this is not a personal question. I'm just confused why we use a term which I'm pretty sure is inaccurate.
I think it must be an anachronism.

It's a strange world of language in which skating on thin ice can get you into hot water.-Franklin P. Jones
How does one "square" a shoulder?
I've seen the phrase lots of times in books. "He squared his shoulders and walked through the door."
Does it mean pulling them up, dropping them down, or just standing up straight and facing forward? 'Cause if it's that last one it's been my experience that upright and forward facing is the easiest way to go through a door, seems kinda redundant.
While we're on the subject, how do you "firm" a jaw? "With jaw firmed he set forth."
Or "set" lips?
I think writers are making this stuff up....which I suppose is their job.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.-Bill Shankly
We were watching Olivia. If you're not familiar with Olivia it doesn't matter, what you need to know is it's a show about anthropomorphised pigs. The pigs were playing football and I wondered to myself, "What is that football made out of?"

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.-Thomas Jefferson
Uuuuummmmmmmm?
Ya know how you can check your traffic sources for your blog? Well I do every once in a while it's interesting to see if I've been referenced other places. I've found a couple of other interesting blogs that way too.
But I gotta ask you guys something.....
Who's coming here from the CIA web site?
No seriously I'm getting traffic from the CIA.
Am I considered subversive?
Are they scared of my presidential bikini post?
Or is it just someone who likes quotes or stories about my cat/dogs/three year old?
I'm both amused and slightly nervous.
And on a completely unrelated note: Happy Birthday Camilla!

Sins, like chickens, come home to roost.-Charles W. Chesnutt
Why'd the rubber chicken cross the road?
I have no clue but he didn't make it across 'cause I ran over him.
No seriously, I ran over a rubber chicken on my way to the gym.
Life is odd.

My real hair color is kind of a dark blonde. Now I just have mood hair. -Julia Roberts
Does your hair change color on its own?
Is it just me?
I think it might be just me.
It's weird right?
I shouldn't complain it had gotten much darker when I was pregnant (not sure if being pregnant was the catalyst or what) but now it's getting lighter again. A subtle change it's true but I hated the color it had turned.
'Coarse I'm thinking of going red any way so I guess it doesn't matter.

Toe pick!-The Cutting Edge
Welcome Cutting Edge fans!
I'm always curious about how people find my blog. So I check the searches every so often. Mostly either it's people who must actually be looking for me (search=day2day madness) or it's people googling a quote I used. That's cool too, "hi quote lovers!"
What I think is odd is there is one specific quote that finds me more than anything else(at least a couple times a week). It's this one. Is that a super romantic quote? Is there a big cult following to that movie? Are there lots of people searching for the right words to convince their ex to come back? Is it just one really avid fan who keeps searching the same quote hoping to find something different?
Any way I wish that had been one of my better posts, but what can you do?
On a related note however my favorite search that's found me so far was "Marvin Gay Reese's Peanut butter nugget"

A family is a unit composed not only of children but of men, women, an occasional animal, and the common cold.-Ogden Nash
So my....uh cousin in law (is that right?)...any way, Dave's cousin posted this link on Facebook.
http://www.peekyou.com/
I was curious so I looked myself up. Nothing particularly interesting under my current name. But when I looked up my former/ maiden name it states that I'm in my 60's (I thought 35 was bad) and apparently married to my Mother. I pretty sure that's not legal even in California.
Query: I wonder who they think my Dad is in this scenario. Our Guatemalan house boy?

So much of life, it seems to me, is determined by pure randomness.-Sidney Poitier
A few things to short to warrant their own posts
The saddest thing I think I've ever seen was an impound tow truck with a little girls bike on it.
A little piece of me just died! And I'm pretty sure this officially makes me old. I just heard an instrumental version of Smells Like Teen Spirit in a commercial for rice.
Ya know what's annoying? When I get a comment and I don't know what post it is in reference to and then I try to publish it but Blogger eats it and I never find out what the heck it means. Dude that pisses me off.
Friend: I Like your jacket. Or is it a hoodie?.... I like your Joodie.
Co workers description of a recent trip to Wales:
"I was surrounded by all these crazy older ladies. It was like being in a Monty Python Skit all the time!"
I don't understand suspenders. Was there a time when no ones pants fit? Were they one size fits all? Was it because it was the depression and no one could afford new pants? If the pants fit they shouldn't fall down.
Cutest thing ever=Fiona singing Ring of Fire.
I was at my desk working away quietly listening to a book. The book in question happens to be set in Florida and the narrator made a passing reference to a Waffle House. I had to stifle an irrational urge to yell out, "Wooo hooo Waffle House!" My poor coworkers don't know how lucky they are I don't say half the strange things I think.

I always thought a yard was three feet, then I started mowing the lawn.-C.E. Cowman
Thought while filling the rabbits watter bowl
I wonder if the hose was invented because some guy said, "I need a better way than buckets to transport watter." and then though, "You know what body part is excellent for squirting liquid?"

I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.-Charles Dickens
Show of hands, how many people have started Christmas shopping?
