This may be a controversial stance but I need to say it.
Friends, family, random news outlets...can you please stop publishing pictures of dead babies?
Perhaps I've just begun noticing it more but recently it seems like every time I'm catching up on the news of the world or scrolling through my Facebook feed there is a new story complete with pictures of some tragic story of a family loosing their baby.
I don't object to the stories being there. I can choose to read them or not but the pictures are like being punched in the gut.
I know a few couples who've had still bourn babies and I can't even count how many people I know who've had miscarriages. I think it's wonderful that these families, both the ones I know and the ones in the news stories have found a way to deal with their loss (es).
If it makes them feel better to have photos of the child they will not get to see grow up then I think it's great that they got to do that. But I'm going to be blunt, those pictures look exactly like what they are...pictures of dead babies.
Everyone grieves in their own way. People find comfort from different things too. I respect that. However I lost two babies myself and for me seeing these pictures is a painful reminder not a comfort.
Please, please, please stop.
It's hurts.
