It Was Bound To Happen

I've been found out! I'd mentioned casually to some of Dave's family that I have a blog but I hadn't sent them the link or anything. Not that I have a problem with them reading it, it just kinda like the singing. I have a hard time believing any one will be interested. But the cat's out of the bag now so "Hi family, hope you have fun here"

Under What Circumstances?

A couple years ago I bought a bag of bite size snickers and brought it to work to share. At one point I grabbed one and realized it was empty just full of air. That was annoying but not worth making a big deal about. However by the time we went through the whole bag we'd found 8 sealed but empty wrappers. I thought this was a jip so I decided to call and complain. I called the phone number on the package and got a recording that stated their hours of operation, named the departments, and also included the message that if this was an emergency you should call 911. That threw me for a loop. I just couldn't envision a scenario in which someone in an emergency situation would call M&M/Mars. Allergic reaction to peanuts?

BTW: I'm still sick. I'm feeling worse than yesterday partly because Fiona (for the third night in a row) didn't sleep more than 2 hours in a row all night. Last night was actually better than the two before but still. I know she can't help it, she was waking up because her tinny little nose is all stuffed up and she couldn't breathe but I'm still so tired I start crying for no good reason. I really hope we both feel better before Thursday otherwise we're going to have to skip Thanksgiving so we don't expose the other children to this yicky crud.

Insert Sarcastic Title Here

Fiona and I are both sick. It's just a cold but it's the first time she's been sick. I took her to the Dr. who said she'll be ok but to keep an eye on it in case she develops an ear infection. Oh Joy! Any how I'll think of something more interesting to post once I have a baby that sleeps at all and my throat doesn't hurt anymore.

Just a Note

I liked the movie a lot. Now I'll have to revamp (no pun intended) my list of favorite vampire movies but don't worry I won't bring it up again until the sequel comes out.

Good Instincts?

Fiona is starting to stand with help. Tonight while I was giving her a bath she was trying to pull herself up so I gave her a hand and held on so she didn't fall over. I sang her a little song I made up about being naked and she was having a good ol' time then out of nowhere she started smacking her own butt. Her attempt to kiss the cat has now been dethroned as the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Interspecies Love

As I mentioned here Fiona's new thing is kissing on the lips. It's awfully cute when I say, "Can I have a kiss" and she considers for a moment and then smiles and kisses me. And as I've mentioned here and here the cat LOVES Fiona. What I may not have made clear is the feeling is mutual. She's said Kitty twice only when she says it it's more like key-tah, and if you say kitty she starts looking for him. Last night I was on the floor with Fiona and Vladi wandered over asking for attention so I picked him up and cuddled him and gave him kisses like I usually do and Fiona wanted to participate. I told her,"It's okay, you can give the kitty a kiss too". Rather than kissing him on the top of the head like I usually do she leaned around and tried to kiss him on the mouth but his whiskers deterred her. Fiona was disappointed and Vladi was horrified. I was extremely amused.

You Know You've Been Wondering

This Morning I opined that Spellcheck was the greatest invention of the 20th century. I thought for a moment and amended except for toilet paper. It then occurred to me that toilet paper might have been invented pre 20th century so I Googled it and found a remarkably interesting site the history of toilet paper . So the moral of the story is Spellcheck wins.

The Final Vamparific Entry

Awww crap I can't get the stupid pictures to load in the rite order. Seriously Blogger get your crap together. Oh well scroll down to see the movie poster first.

#1. Queen of the Damned-Yep believe it or not another Anne Rice adaptation. Still hate her, think she sucks, hated the books (see look I gave her several chances & she still pisses me off) but.......Stuart Townsend (sigh). This really didn't stick to closely to the book(s) which is all to the good as far as I'm concerned. It's also not really that great of a movie but SEXY as all get out.
Sorry this is the best picture I could find on line.

OMG awesome soundtrack. They wrote some original songs for Lestat's band to perform and their actually good (probably 'cause real musicians wrote em). Also the girl in this has hair exactly the color I wish I could get mine to stay (Not Aaliyah the red head).

I'm excited about Twilight on Sunday. It's getting really mixed reviews either they LOVE it or they HATE it. I'm hoping to be in the former category. I may break my promise re not mentioning vampires just to let you know if I liked it but then I'll shut up (for a while).

I Heart Vampires Day 4

Alright I know you must be getting tired of this. Only 1 more day & then I'll shut up about vampires for a while.

#2- The Lost Boys. Come on who didn't love this movie? It had everything; a great soundtrack, Motorcycles, and two Corry's (at the time that was a plus). Alright so it didn't make any sense and the plot was practically non existent but Keifer Sutherland was so sexy.

TMI Thursday

Today (for once) my bra and panties match......and their polka dot. Te he he.

Film's O' Vampires Day 3

#3 (You'd think it would rank higher) Dracula (1931)

Why? Well duh Bella Lugosi. Pretty much every actor who's played a vampire since has been borrowing from this performance. Poor Bella was typecast from then on but did he mind? Apparently not, he was buried in his cape.
Again a movie based on a novel I didn't really like. Let's face it Bram Stoker was a hack but he came up with one hell of a hook and to be fair the idea of narration from multiple perspectives was innovative at the time.

Of coarse there have been multiple remakes but the 1931 classic is still the best in my opinion. I wanted to like the 1992 Copola version, I mean it had a great director, quite a good cast, and I just kinda love Garry Oldman but it just didn't work for me and I'll tell you why. The screenplay was co-written by Fred Saberhagen who also wrote a series of novels about Dracula in which the vampire is the hero. Some of them are pretty good by the way. The problem with the screenplay is they tried to make the vampire both the antagonist and the protagonist and it doesn't work that way. You don't know if you're supposed to root for him or the humans. Personally I always root for the monster but that may just be me.

Get a Life

I'm listening to three people have a HEATED debate about last nights Biggest Looser. No seriously they are worked up. I find this very amusing.

Vampirepalooza Day 2

#4 on my list of favorite Vampire movies is possibly the first one ever made (certainly the earliest on my list). Nosferatu is a silent movie that was based on Dracula but all the character names were changed. However Bram Stokers widow saw it and was all, "Oh Heeeeelll no!". Just kidding she probably said something more like, "Oh bother. I am rather upset by this turn of events." Anyway she sued and won because it's clearly the same story. Unfortunately when you watch the movie now they changed all the names to those of the characters in Dracula which annoys me just because it's not the original. It's hard to find a copy that hasn't been tampered with.
Sadly these still just make Max Shreck (the actor) look kinda goofy but in motion he is extremely creepy.
When they made a movie of Stephen Kings vampire novel Salem's Lot they tried to make the main vampire look like this rather than as he was described in the novel (ya know suave, urbane, traditional vampire stuff) sadly they also made him blue for some reason and the entire effect was comical. It's a craptastic movie but I do recommend the book.

Just So Ya Know

If you're writing a story and feel the need to include a Porche you should know that 6 people can't fit in one. Just FYI.

Edit: Okay Fine they can fit in a Cayene but the one in the story was a 911 turbo which is a 2 seater.

Vamptastic Fun

Alright as probably none of you know or care (but hey this is my show, and I'm excited) the movie of Twilight comes out on Friday. Yay the world needs more vampire movies! What can I say? I've had a thing about Vampires since I was a little girl. Also stilted writing aside I liked the book. My friend Jubiss and I are going to go see it on Sunday and our friend Grace might come too so I'm already looking forward to the weekend.

In honor of what I'm hoping will be a good movie I decided to give you a list of my top 5 favorite Vampire movies, however just like on Halloween the pictures won't upload in the correct order. So rather than posting the whole list on Friday as was my original plan I'm going to do a daily count down.

So without further ado I give you #5 Interview with the Vampire.

There's an interesting story behind this one (well at least a story you can judge how interesting). I hate Anne Rice. I mean HATE. She's a terrible writer, and she cheats, also all her characters are whinny and annoying and can't keep it in their pants. I'm all for eroticism in the rite context but dirty sex for no reason at all creeps me out.

Needless to say I had no intention of seeing the movie when it came out. Instead I went to a completely different movie Tales from The Crypt presents Daemon Knight with my then boyfriend. The problem was I'd promised my little brother that I'd take him to see Tales from The Crypt so I went to see it again. I liked it the first time so I figured what the hey. Well when we got to the theatre it turned out to be a double feature (I know when do they EVER show a double feature any more) with da da da da....Interview With the Vampire. So despite my intentions I wound up seeing it and once you took out the dreadful writing, cut down on the whiny angst, and throw in a couple good actors who also weren't hard to look at it was not a bad movie.

That's Kinda Sad

Since I've gotten used to seeing myself with glasses every time I see myself without them I think my eyes look little and washed out. It's weird because until recently I always thought they were one of my best features. Although no one else ever said anything about them so maybe it's no loss.

Told You He Was a Weirdo

Last night as I was trying to fall asleep my mind was wandering and for some reason I wound up thinking about the night Dave and I met. After a few minutes I rolled over and put my arm around him. He patted it confirming that as I'd suspected he was still awake. I said, "I know this is going to sound strange eleven years after the fact but I'm glad I came back to the party after I took Jessica home."

He shifted to put an arm around me and squeezed saying "Me too."

"It was very un like me. I just liked you." I smiled

Dave responded, "Just think if you hadn't we would have never moved to Fairfield and you would never have gotten Meowsers*."

Pause

Pause

Pfttttttt ha ha ha ha ha. Yeah those are the parts I'd regret.

* Meowsers is one of the cat's nicknames along with Meowy Meowington, and Bunny.

This Is Not Fair!

What is up with everyone I know having miscarriages? It was bad enough going through it myself but to have to watch people I love got through it too. Why can't everyone just get pregnant when they want to and have healthy babies? Who made up these stupid rules? I'm extremely pissed rite now and there's no one to blame.

Geneva Convention

Putting hold music on speaker phone should be punishable by death.

Now I Remember

Fiona was a pain in the butt all weekend. She's teething (AGAIN!) so she was grumpy and fussy and didn't sleep well and didn't want to eat and generally made us wonder "why, oh why did we do this to ourselves?"

And then.....

Last night as I was getting her ready for bed. I kissed her on her mouth which usually makes her laugh but this time she looked at me confused. I picked her up and she put her little arms around my neck and pressed her little mouth to mine and then leaned back and smiled. I laughed and said "thank you" then she gave me a more traditional wet open baby kiss on the cheek. Yeah that's why we wanted a baby.

My Menagerie

In the car we heard a soundbite stating that Obama wants to adopt a dog from a shelter for his kids. That's nice, I'm pro shelter adoption. Dave mentioned that it's a kind of tradition for the first family to get a dog or cat (in the case of the Clintons) when they move in.

Now as you all know I didn't get elected but hey there's always next time. In preparation I've decided that since I already have 2 dogs, a cat, and 3 bunnies when I move in to the white house I'm going to adopt a skunk. Dave thinks we should name it Stinky but I was thinking something more ironic like Coco as in Coco Chanel.

Conffesion

When I was a kid I thought the opposite of daylight savings time was daylight spending time. Still makes perfect sense to me.

I Didn't Know You Could Do That

I pulled up i-tunes because I wanted to see if a song I want was available and I noticed a section that said shared. So I clicked on it and up pops one of my coworkers whole play list. WHOA! What an unexpected glimpse in to another persons Psyche. What was extra crazy is he had A LOT of the same things I've got. Soundtracks,Nancy Sinatra, Barry Mannilow, Bobby Darin...weird.

At Least That's What I Think

One of the problems with the comb over is it doesn't always stay combed over. It's even less flattering when it's a greasy stringy clump of hair trialling down the back of your head on to one shoulder. My advise, just accept the bald spot. It's less unattractive than the various things you can try to hide it.

OMG the Hell!

So let me ask you something? Seriously I'm interested.

Have you ever read fanfiction?

There's a million different kinds out there for every TV show, movie, book, heck probably even reality shows have fanfiction. Now this isn't normally my thing but I started reading some contest entries and it's like a train wreck you can't look away.

Now I can't spell to save my life but that's what spell check is for and I'm sure I make occasional grammatical errors or use a word incorrectly but in general I try really hard to avoid making myself look stupid in public.

Seriously people try just reading through what you wrote. You might catch the times you typed the same word twice. Also if you don't actually know what something means don't try to use it.

Here are some choice examples I've come across today.

But even a fracture of my passion for Bella could cause this man to be dangerously persistent. (I think the word your looking for is fraction)

I expelled that thought out of my mind before it had time to plant itself in me. (what?)

he slowly moves a quietly as he possibly can like a lion surrounding its prey (wow and I thought it took multiple lions to surround anything)

I hade made it, and more. (okay that's not a sentence and hade isn't a word)

Now some fanfiction isn't that bad. It's even written by people who apparently speak the language. Most of it though make me wonder how these people made it to, let alone through, high school.

Halloween Pics

Because Mama likes vampires and also 'cause I just think it's hilarious to dress a baby up as something that's supposed to be scary, I present to you the worlds cutest bat.

Further Proof of My Geekdom

So this week over at Who's in Charge Here they're voting on one of my all time favorite bands so if you feel like being silly head on over.

Chick Flicks & Healthy Snacks

Ya gotta teach em young.

Fiona and I spent yesterday watching Titanic and eating whole wheat crackers. She giggled while the ship was sinking but she showed the crackers the proper amount of respect.
